We went  back to the Hilton Hotel in Nottingham for our April meeting and it was good to see what new chef  creates for us…the bailey’s cheesecake was a great success!

    FREE SEMINAR

This month we welcomed Mark Greenhouse and Neil Harvey of  ResQ who  presented on LEAN Thinking.

Lean Thinking it’s all about manufacturing isn’t it?

Lean Thinking is management technique adopted by Tesco, Zara, Starbucks (these guys have just tripled profits using it!), Toyota, GE, NHS  etc. It simultaneously improves efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Neil Harvey & Mark Greenhouse from ResQ shared the results of what can be achieved through lean thinking, results from the world of marketing, legal firms, retailing, manufacturing etc. They’ll share some of the techniques and simulations they use, so that you can try them for yourself and you’ll find out how a lean thinking practitioner “sees” the world of business.

    Find out

    •  whether you and your clients are really operating at between 5-10% efficiency like most organisations and how you can start on the journey to improve this to world class figures of 30-50%
    •  why the highest potential for improvement is in the service sector and in departments such as marketing, sales and accounting.
    • how lean thinking has been applied, by ResQ, to organisations as small as 4 employees!
    •  how you and your clients could get funding to start on a “lean” journey

Current clients of ResQ have reduced their labour costs by between 25-40%, improved their “on time” delivery and won contracts directly as a result of the work completed by ResQ.

ResQ are accredited suppliers of “Lean Thinking” transformation programmes across the East Midlands, Yorkshire & Humberside to both Business Link and the Manufacturing Advisory Service. Find out more

    This month’s seminar is:-

Andy PrestonSales Lessons from the Slow Down - by Andy Preston

A guide to increasing Sales in 2010.

The last year has  highlighted the need for the business owners and salesperson to control your sales plans and sales process more than ever before! It was the year where customers started asking for proposals, but then didn’t seem to proceed with the buying decision anywhere near as fast!

Did you feel that your  prospects were trying to get a ‘feel’ for what was available and what it would cost, before trying to get approval for who to go with, which often resulted in internal discussion and slow decision making by potential clients! So the salesperson does lots of ‘running around’ for very little reward!

Andy will show you how to regain control of your sales process and drive your sales plan. To attend the Business Network Event book here.

For more details on the seminar, here in Nottingham,  and Andy Preston please see here.

PLUS…… we are supporting Express Logistics support of  the Blue Peter appeal, so please remember to bring your old (washed) T-shirts to the meeting!

New Year Meeting – 12th January – The Nottingham Belfry Hotel

    RBBN102

We were back at the Nottingham Belfry for our January meeting and we had a reasonable turn out considering the weather, tax year end for many and the backlog after the holiday. The day got off to a great start with Ian Sterritt’s very interesting seminar on Innovation in your Business. If you have not seen his “Zipper Model” and how it can apply to your business, I would recommend you catch up with him…..it was one of those “wish I had seen this years ago” ….so a great thanks to Ian for braving the Derbyshire Snow.

The meeting itself proved most enjoyable with 11 new companies  attending the meeting and it was a pleasure to introduce the new GM of the Belfry – Mart Louwerse, who gave an overview of his experience. The New Year raffle was won by John Bendel of oh2, who have recently opened offices in Nottingham. However, the star of the show for me was the Apple and Rhubarb crumble, closely followed by the fillet of lamb. A lovely warming meal on a very cold day.

IanSterritt2 Best practice innovation takes its own medicine with different approaches that connect internal and external ideas to meet demand for new solutions.

The use of innovation to solve business problems is enhanced by use of the “Zipper Model” and well worth exploring it’s use in your business.

Referring to recognizable case studies and exercises, Ian  illustrated the practical steps every business can take towards the successful creation and commercialisation of innovation.  Please read more….
